The homeowners wanted to create a larger kitchen by combine the dinning room and the existing kitchen. The wall being removed was load bearing and created a few challenges. The existing duct work in the ceiling made recessing the beam in the floor joists impossible. Instead of just installing a beam and covering it with drywall, we decide to accentuate the beam and came up with this creative tray ceiling detail.
